Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered is maybe not a revolutionary game, it brings no real innovation when compared with the original game from 2007. However, it can be seen in a different key. The new Modern Warfare kept much of what worked very well back then, it could be very gratifying to see the end result being unaltered.

It seems that CoD Modern Warfare is a game for all ages and all time, what was true then, it is true now and will probably be true even after many years. It seems that it managed to discover something important and fundamental deep down, something universal that matter for all gamers, old and young, fans of the franchise or newcomers. We believed than that we have one of the best ps4 shooting games on our hands and that feeling is renewed today. This is not a small thing…

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered was released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC on November 4, 2016. It is a remastered version of the first-person shooter Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare released back in 2007. Modern Warfare was developed by Raven Software and published worldwide by Activision. It come as a response to fans’ request and was also into a context when people were sensible to remakes. The game was part of the Legacy, Legacy Pro, and Digital Deluxe editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Modern Warfare Remastered provides a more gentle reintroduction to the series and could also be a stepping stone to the Infinite Warfare multiplayer game.

The changes brought to Modern Warfare are visible and we notice improvements on all aspects of the game, but at its core we have the original 2007 video game. As result, you can see the game in many different keys and there is no surprise that many people praise it and some others criticize it. For example, the campaigns from Modern Warfare Remastered might feel outdated by today’s standards, but its multiplayer remains as addictive and strong as ever. This is more likely because of the core characteristics of the video game, a true statement before (in 2007 when we saw it first) and a true statement now.

It is not that all the other game modes are not interesting, but I feel the best remain the multiplayer experience that remained nicely despite the passage of time (2007–2016). Maybe the multiplayer gameplay is what place Cod at the top xbox one shooting games lists. Raven Software brought lots of improvements to the CoD multiplayer system that were welcomed. The atmosphere of war is realistic and immersive. We can see and feel warzones littered with debriefs, blown out vehicles and buildings in ruins. The maps are somewhat old style, they do not make use of vertical space and the options are rather limited. You have areas to duck behind, but not really competitive areas or vantage points. The result is a rather balanced gameplay and less strategic input.

Still, progress was made as mentioned. For example, the previous generation of CoD featured only 9 maps and about 6 game modes, where the new Remastered version has 23 maps and 9 game modes. Also, we welcome the addition of up to 16 A.I. controlled bots when in split-screen multiplayer, a feature that lacks in the previous release. In addition, Variety Map Pack, a paid addition, containing four extra maps for split-screen and online multiplayer: Broadcast, Chinatown, Creek and Killhouse. Other maps will be added and this will assure great playability even further.

Modern Warfare Remastered is more than any fan could decently expect from a remastered version. It is a moment of great joy to welcome back one of the most important FPS of all time.
