This is a question that anyone is asking about any game, so it should be no surprise that we ask ourselves if “The Lord of the Rings: Gollum” is worth it or not. So let’s try to give an answer to this question for all players who have this game in their minds or wishlists. If you are an individual looking to pull the trigger and purchase The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, you better read this article. It is for you!

Gollum, the iconic character from The Lord of the Rings, embarks on a perilous quest in the game.

An Adventure Game in the Beautiful World of The Lord of the Rings.

Let’s remind ourselves that we meet a wonderful universe filled with magic. In this realm where choices are abundant, where journeys unfold and secrets await, the answer lies within the hearts of individuals. Each adventurer must embark on their own path, guided by their own desires and passions. So, in a way, if you’re a fan of PS5 adventure games, and the narrative is the key feature of any new game title, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is quite a catch. The narrative is the highlight of this video game. If possible, if we stop at this feature, then The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is really worth it.

The Gollum is the Playable Character

For those captivated by the rich tapestry of Middle-Earth, and enthralled by the complex character of Gollum, this game offers a unique opportunity. Traverse the majestic mountains of Mordor, stealthily navigate the treacherous shadows of Mirkwood, and make choices that shape the destiny of Gollum. It is a beautiful adventure, truly a game for people enjoying buying PS5 games. It is a realm where the allure of discovery, the allure of exploring Gollum’s inner turmoil, and the thrill of engaging with a beloved IP intertwine. The decision rests with you, dear adventurer.

Many Negatives

Of course, we cannot stop at narrative only… it is not possible to evaluate a game only under one aspect. And once we pass the narrative, the game has a lot of issues. And I do not mean technical issues that most games have at lunch (maybe not as many as The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, but still..) because these will be fixed in time, and in a few weeks will make obsolete reviews that mention them. Let us begin our lament with the woeful visual presentation. Alas, the artistry employed in this game fails to capture the ethereal majesty and resplendence of Middle-earth that has enraptured countless souls. I mean structural problems that could not be fixed and seem to doom the game forever.

Caught in the depths of despair, Gollum’s tortured soul reveals the weight of his burden.

Bad Visuals

In my opinion, the visuals are bad, especially when you consider the great potential The Lord of the Rings: Gollum offered. In our minds, this world is exciting, fascinating, and magical… so many opportunities to create impressive visuals… Instead, we are subjected to a dreary palette devoid of inspiration, where the landscapes, characters, and creatures that once danced in our minds’ eyes are reduced to lackluster shadows. How do you fix this? It is impossible… you would have to make a new game.

Amidst the shadows, a figure emerges, consumed by obsession and consumed by the Ring.

Bad Gameplay

Yet, it is not solely the visual façade that crumbles beneath the weight of disappointment; the gameplay itself stumbles and falters, stumbling blindly through a fog of mediocrity. The controls, like a broken compass, offer naught but frustration and bewilderment, rendering the mere act of traversing the game’s realm an exercise in exasperation. The mechanics, akin to stagnant waters, stagnate in their lack of depth and innovation, denying players the thrill of discovery and novelty they so ardently seek. Oh, what an opportunity squandered to delve into the abyss of Gollum’s unique abilities and traverse the treacherous paths of his internal struggle.

Should I Buy The Lord of the Rings: Gollum?

It is no surprise that The Lord of the Rings: Gollum ranks so bad at this time, with below 50 from 100 ratings on Metacritic, and lots of negative reviews. Is The Lord of the Rings: Gollum worth it? I feel so bad to say that… not likely. There are too many negatives to wholeheartedly recommend the game. It is probably a game for fans of the universe, and I mean really devoted fans. Not too worthy for everyone else. So I would think a little before buying The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. Maybe is a good thing that come out in a period when not that many games are released.

In Conclusion

Yet worthiness is subjective, a tapestry woven by personal preferences and aspirations. So, reflect upon your longing for adventure, your fascination with the enigmatic, and your connection to the world of Tolkien. Consider the depths of immersion, the intricate narrative, and the emotional resonance that awaits. Let your heart guide you as you embark on this quest. In the end, the worth of “The Lord of the Rings: Gollum” is a tapestry waiting to be woven, shaped by your own experiences and desires. Embrace the unknown, embrace the journey, and allow your own inner Gollum to whisper the answer you seek.
