Stellar Blade from Shift Up burst onto the scene in grand style, captivating gamers visually while providing an engaging yet unremarkable narrative experience. Players find themselves immersed in an alternate reality ravaged by monstrous creatures known as Naytiba; although its narrative may lack groundbreaking twists for veteran gamers, Stellar Blade’s fast-paced action combat system and beautiful environment provide compelling, yet not entirely original entertainment value.

Dive into the heart of the action with Stellar Blade’s dynamic combat system.

The Story Leave Much to Be Desired

Admittedly, the story treads familiar ground; with predictable plot beats and minimal character development leaving much to be desired, and without emotional investment in Eve, or her supporting cast — or their fate at that. This disappointment was compounded further when considering Eve is based on the model Shin Jae-eun. Do not get me wrong, Eve is beautiful and her outfits are enticing without making her look “too easy” or revealing too much; it is the lack of character development that plagues the design as Eve has one dimension only: warrior.

Stellar Blade features fluid animations and responsive controls.

Combat Makes the Game Worth It

Stellar Blade stands out where it counts: combat. The system delivers an exhilarating exchange of offense and defense that requires precise timing and tactical awareness to play effectively, taking cues from Dark Souls with its rewards for calculated aggression while punishing recklessness. If you have to pick one reason to buy Stellar Blade, it is combat. Beta Skills add a level of strategic depth, giving players options when facing different enemy types. Naytiba monstrosities were designed by designer Hee-Cheol Jang — yet visuals remain undeniably impressive, reflecting their developer’s focus on aesthetics over narrative depth.

Combat Over Story

Stellar Blade shines when it comes to combat, offering an exhilarating challenge throughout its 30-hour adventure. Director Hyung-Tae Kim prioritized gameplay over narrative with Stellar Blade, and in that respect, the title excels admirably, however, many players feel that it could have been better on story as well. In addition, Eve could have been enriched with a more alluring personality to avoid the single-cord Eve that we have now who appears only as a warrior and nothing else. Stellar Blade offers beautiful visuals of a post-apocalyptic world and deeply satisfying combat to make for an engaging action gaming experience but if this will fully offset the lack of narrative and flat characters remains to be determined by players like you.

Immerse yourself in the rich combat of Stellar Blade.

Conclusion: For Fans of Soulslike Combat

Stellar Blade, despite the flagrant minuses, is a very good option if you buy cheap PS5 games, but do not set your expectations too high, and more particularly don’t expect an epic tale to sweep you off your feet because you will be disappointed. On the other hand, you will probably be satisfied by its hack-and-slash combat which is almost entirely inspired by Sekiro (at least if you try to copy someone, it is important to select a good model). As far as you don’t expect anything groundbreaking as far as narrative goes and you are happy with the Soulslike combat that you most probably have seen in Sekiro, everything will be fine.
