Until Dawn is the best interactive horror game, developed by Supermassive Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation 4 only on 2015. Until Dawn offers a non traditional gaming experience, rivaling movies in terms of cinematic storytelling. Supermassive Games has produced a solid, if not particularly ambitious experience for players who are new to virtual reality.

Until Dawn is a survival horror that sees eight friends become trapped on a remote mountain getaway gone wrong. Its familiar schlock horror story and characters frequently combine with the quick time event (QTE) game design. You interact with the story in three ways: (1) by wandering through environments and finding clues, (2) by making choices for how certain characters react to other characters, and (3) through succeeding or failing at quick-time events (QTEs). This is an interestingly different type of game, one that stands out in your ps4 games stack.

I came for the campy teen horror movie feel and left extremely impressed with how well-rounded and influential an experience Until Dawn delivered. Based on the chaos theory of the butterfly effect, where a small change or decision can have a very large downstream impact, Until Dawn forces you to make split-second life-or-death decisions. The life of the eight young adults trapped at a mountain lodge is in your hands. The stories come from the perspectives of multiple protagonists and you can let a main character die without the story grinding to a halt. The game is not big in technical advancements, you will not dial up on frames per second or things like that. Still, I put Until Dawn in the best ps4 games category for all the other reasons.

With the story and cinematic presentation being arguably the game’s main focus, Until Dawn spends a lot of time early on establishing its tone and atmosphere before the horror kicks in and the characters’ lives become at stake. The game plays like an interactive movie, where the bulk of the gameplay consists of making decisions and reacting to quick-time-events during cutscenes, alternating with sequences that give you freedom to explore your surroundings for story clues while trying to complete an objective. This masterpiece of interactive cinematic games may be found on major game retailers, including Amazon, BestBuy or BuyGames — places where you can buy cheap ps4 games.

Until Dawn is indeed a love letter of sorts to horror movies, and that idea plays out better when the entire experience can have more of a cinematic feel to it. Though at times the game’s last-gen origins seem to shine through in scenes or visuals that look noticeably worse graphically, this is usually an extremely beautiful game. Until Dawn rely more on the visual language of cinema than on the visual language of games. I strongly recommend you to buy Until Dawn, you will be happy with the purchase.
