WipEout Omega Collection sci-fi anti-gravity ships racing game on PlayStation 4
Sony has chosen to provide WipEout Omega Collection to us, and boy is it a pleasure to see it on the PS4. This collection includes the previous two titles published in the series: WipEout HD and its expansion WipEout HD Fury, and WipEout 2048. In any event, you’ve got two slightly different names with their particular strengths and weaknesses: 2048’s more modern Formula One-inspired circuits are an artistic achievement, but its simplistic game title modes do not get the most out of these; HD Fury is brimming with intriguing spins on the futuristic racing formula, but its sci-fi classes are beginning to show their age — even in 4K. It is perhaps worth remembering that some of the tracks date back to WipEout Pure on the PSP. They look extraordinary, have the nostalgia effect, but at the standards of today they seem to lack something.
The WipEout series has always been a showcase on how to keep racing exciting and the classic gameplay holds up beautifully still so if you’re after some lightning fast races then Omega Collection is more than enough to satisfy your lust. Players can use guns, explosives, and futuristic devices to knock their competition out of the race temporarily, but there’s no blood or gore. As result, WipEout is rather a wonderful family video game that children and parents (and some grandparents as well — let’s not forget the game appeared more than 20 years before) can enjoy together. This is a family ps4 racing game first and foremost.
The game is available only for PlayStation — it is a shame that we do not have an xbox one racing game like this one. WipEout Omega Collection offers the ultimate range of 26 circuits and 46 unique ships. The games have a shiny new coat of paint but the core elements that made them so successful in the past have remained as pure fun as they should be. Wipeout HD and HD Fury’s focus on single player races, time trials, Eliminator and Detonator tracks and the tough as nails Zone mode are still as great as ever. It gathers elements of the last three games in the series (HD, Fury, and 2048) under one roof to create an exhaustive package with 26 tracks, 46 ships models (with another three added in VR) and nine game modes.
Since 1995, this adrenaline-fueled futuristic racer features on all of Sony’s consoles and although we’ve had to wait a little longer to see a Wipeout game on the PlayStation 4, the delay has been worth it. Ultimately, WipEout: Omega Collection is an essential purchase for veterans and novices of the classic racing series. It definitely worth to buy cheap ps4 games as this one — it will be a nice addition to your library (if you do not have yet a WipEout game — do you call yourself a gamer?) and will bring something to play with your family, even the small children as there is no blood and gore.
